Building the Security Layer: Web3’s Missing Aggregator

As Web3 pushes toward scale and institutional trust, the need for a unified security coordination layer has never been clearer—backed by $40M in new funding, Hypernative is stepping up to build it

At some point in every technology stack’s evolution, further scaling requires convergence. Just as operating systems abstracted hardware, and cloud platforms abstracted infrastructure, Web3 must now abstract security. What’s missing is a real-time layer that can observe, evaluate, and protect the entire ecosystem—across chains, protocols, and user actions. In short, Web3 needs a security aggregation layer.

At Hypernative, we’ve been building toward this moment for over two years. We pioneered the real-time threat detection and response product segment in Web3 and today our platform secures the full lifecycle of blockchain activity. With our recent $40M Series B funding round, we’re doubling down on our mission to deliver the end-to-end security platform Web3 needs to reach the next phase of adoption.

Breakthroughs in scale—from railroads and telegraph networks to power grids and containerized shipping—have always depended not just on new technologies, but on coordination layers that abstract complexity and enable trust across distance. In computing, web browsers turned fragmented websites into a navigable medium, package managers like npm and PyPI made open-source software composable, and app stores unified distribution and access between developers and billions of users.

A similar process happened in Web2 security. Cloudflare unified the network edge, CrowdStrike turned endpoint data into shared intelligence, and Okta made identity manageable at scale. Now, Hypernative is building that same convergence layer for Web3 security. It’s not about patching parts—it’s about making the entire stack usable, governable, and secure at scale.

The Cost of Fragmentation

Web3 is not just decentralized—it’s profoundly disaggregated. There are over 60 major blockchains and about as many Layer 2s, each with its own ecosystem of bridges, AMMs, lending, restaking, and other essential protocols. The result is an environment where risk doesn’t just grow—it multiplies. In 2024, Hypernative detected over $2.2 billion of losses from hacks, exploits, phishing, and fraud—a 22% jump from the previous year. Following the $1.4 billion Bybit hack in February, the industry is on track for another record-breaking year of security failures.

The world without security aggregation is the one we live in now: constant breaches, record-breaking heists, and reactive responses. Every project fends for itself. Every user assumes risk without clarity. Each participant remains blind to the bigger security picture, and the industry remains trapped in a cycle of whack-a-mole exploits, hacks, and fraud.

In a world with security aggregation, a wallet can simulate every transaction before it’s signed, a fund can assess pool toxicity before deploying capital, and a protocol can auto-mitigate risk as soon as threat signals emerge. It’s a world where risk is not just observed—it’s anticipated and acted upon in real time.

From Blacklists to Web3-Scale, Data-Driven Security

When we founded Hypernative in early 2022, blockchain security was reactive, blacklist-driven, and narrowly-focused on transactions. We decided to take a different path, call it the Everything Everywhere All at Once approach. We look at everything that happens in Web3 in real time, collecting enormous amounts of data to feed our machine learning classification models. As a result, our detection engines make connections others miss and see risks that are invisible to our competitors.

Today, Hypernative aggregates security signals across the whole spectrum of blockchain activity: from smart contracts and funds to wallets and fraud and counterparty risk. Our end-to-end solution suite is the backbone of the security aggregation layer:

  • Hypernative Platform -- offering real-time monitoring, detection and automated response that stops exploits before they do damage;
  • Hypernative Firewall -- preventing specific malicious interactions without pausing the entire protocol with real-time transaction-level policy enforcement;
  • Hypernative Screener -- providing real-time address, liquidity pool, and token reputation across multiple chains, indicating sanctions, involvement in hacks and exploits, interactions with mixers and more;
  • Hypernative Guardian -- preventing malicious transactions before execution and uncovering financial risks and opportunities with simulations and custom, granular enforcement policies;
  • Fraud and Phishing Protection -- blocking scammers with an AI-powered, proactive, onchain fraud detection and response.

Network Effects Powering the Security Flywheel

Security, like liquidity, gets stronger with scale. Every new protocol integrated, every chain monitored, every threat detected contributes to a broader intelligence graph—sharpening detection, reducing false positives, and accelerating response times across the board. This is the power of network effects in real-time threat prevention: as more of the ecosystem connects to Hypernative, every participant benefits from the collective visibility and speed of the whole. Security stops being isolated—it becomes shared infrastructure.

Our platform now monitors over 60 chains, supports 200+ customers including many of Web3’s most prominent players, and protects more than $100 billion in onchain assets. In the past year alone, we’ve helped prevent over $2 billion in losses, detecting threats across more than 300 unique risk types—from smart contract hacks and bridge exploits to frontend hijacks and fund flow manipulation.

The $40M Series B funding round, co-led by Ten Eleven Ventures and Ballistic Ventures, will support the expansion of the company's offerings to strengthen fraud prevention and wallet-level transaction security and user protection. The funds will also fuel improvements to AI models through wider investment into high-quality training data, and support team growth to provide expert-driven risk analysis and customer support.

Security is the last true bottleneck to Web3 adoption. The security aggregation layer we’re building together will make the entire ecosystem more resilient, trustworthy, and secure for everyone.

About Hypernative

Hypernative is a real-time monitoring, risk detection and automated response solution that identifies threats with high accuracy and gives customers precious minutes to respond before threats can do damage. The platform tracks both onchain and offchain data sources and uses battle-tested, sophisticated machine learning models, heuristics, simulations, and graph-based detections to identify over 300 risk types, from smart contract hacks and bridge security incidents to frontend compromises, market manipulations and private key theft.
