Ethena Turns to Hypernative to Protect Transactions Across Its $15B Ecosystem

Long-time customer integrates Hypernative Guardian to prevent malicious transactions before execution with simulations and custom, granular enforcement policies.

Hypernative

When you issue a synthetic dollar that moves billions in value, every transaction matters. Ethena’s $15B ecosystem powers some of the most innovative activity in Web3. At the same time, it attracts constant attempts at phishing, address poisoning, and smart contract exploits.

Since May 2024, Ethena has relied on Hypernative’s real-time risk monitoring and automated threat detection to safeguard its USDe synthetic dollar and the sUSDe staked counterpart. The coverage across smart contract exploits, governance vulnerabilities, market risks, and protocol health includes depeg monitoring, oracle integrity checks, real-time exploit detection, and more. Now, Ethena is taking the next step by adopting Hypernative Guardian to protect transactions at the execution layer.

Guardian is a pre-transaction security layer that inspects transactions before they are signed and executed. By simulating transaction execution, enforcing customizable policies, and detecting anomalies, Guardian stops risky or unintended actions before they hit the blockchain. Ethena is using the Guardian API integration to inform and mitigate risks on high stakes transactions, enabling transaction simulation, recommendations, and the ability to block risky or unauthorized operations.

Ethena's Engineering Team on Choosing Hypernative

Q: Why is Ethena strengthening transaction security?

As a crypto protocol handling high-value multisig and other critical transactions, Ethena is committed to protecting our users from sophisticated threats like phishing, address poisoning, and smart contract exploits, ensuring trust and reliability across our ecosystem.

Strengthening transaction security with real-time pre-transaction analysis enables us to proactively mitigate risks, preventing financial losses and maintaining the integrity of our operations in an increasingly complex Web3 environment.

By integrating advanced security measures, we aim to set a new standard for responsible innovation, safeguarding funds and contracts while supporting seamless and confident participation in our protocol.

Q: Why did you choose Hypernative Guardian over other vendors?

Hypernative Guardian’s real-time transaction simulation and threat detection, supported all of the chains we needed, was the most thoughtfully developed solution, and offered unmatched precision in identifying risks like phishing, scams, and malicious addresses before execution.

Guardian is deeply integrated with our existing wallet infrastructure and enforces customizable security policies, ensuring no disruption to our user experience or operational efficiency.

Hypernative’s proven track record of saving over $350M in funds from exploits, combined with its focus on institutional-grade security, made it the clear choice for protecting our high-stakes transactions and aligning with our commitment to trust and innovation.

Q: What specific goals are you trying to achieve or values you expect to derive from this integration?

Our primary goal is to eliminate blind signing risks by leveraging Guardian’s transaction simulation, ensuring every multisig and high-value transaction is thoroughly vetted for intent and impact before approval, reducing exposure to exploits.

We aim to enhance user confidence and operational resilience through real-time alerts and automated policy enforcement, enabling rapid responses to threats and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

By integrating Hypernative Guardian, we expect to achieve streamlined transaction approvals, reduced operational risks, and a fortified security posture, reinforcing our reputation as a leader in secure and innovative Web3 solutions.

Ethena’s move signals a broader shift in Web3. Recent attacks such as the large-scale NPM supply chain compromise and the $1.5B Bybit exploit highlight that hackers are no longer just targeting end users or isolated protocols. They are going after the infrastructure itself: wallets, multisigs, executors, and developer supply chains. By adding security at the transaction layer, Ethena is showing what it takes to operate responsibly at scale.

Ethena joins a growing list of customers ranging from asset managers like M1 Capital to foundations like Sui Foundation that rely on Hypernative Guardian to block risky transactions before they are executed. By automating policy enforcement and pre-transaction threat detection, they turn security, compliance, and risk teams into business enablers, not blockers, while cutting manual transaction reviews by up to 90%.

Guardian extends the protections we’ve long provided through real-time monitoring into the transaction flow itself. With customers like Ethena adopting Guardian, institutions can operate with confidence that both their assets and their transactions are safeguarded at every layer.
