Banco Central do Brasil Advances to Contracting Hypernative to Support Real-Time Crypto Fraud Intelligence

The collaboration follows a proof of value in which Hypernative developed a BCB-specific methodology to surface preparatory fraud-to-crypto laundering signals before or near confirmed incident windows.

Banco Central do Brasil (BCB), Brazil's central bank and financial system regulator, is advancing to contract Hypernative to operate a continuous onchain monitoring and fraud intelligence program covering the Brazilian financial sector. The engagement will combine Hypernative's Onchain Monitoring and Fraud Prevention capabilities with dedicated analyst support, to make BCB Hypernative's first central bank customer.

BCB is responsible for supervising Brazil's financial system, which spans banks, payment service providers, and virtual asset service providers (VASPs). As coordinated fraud increasingly routes through crypto with proceeds dispersed across exchanges before traditional systems can respond, the central bank needed a way to detect preparatory signals before a fraud execution reaches the financial sector. BCB is deploying Hypernative's Onchain Monitoring & Automated Response platform and Fraud Prevention capabilities to build that detection layer.

The moment we understood we needed to monitor Web3, we faced a core problem: our existing tooling was built for the traditional financial system. As financial-fraud patterns increasingly intersect with cryptoasset flows, the ability to identify timely, explainable signals becomes important for supervisory and market-intelligence work. The proof of value with Hypernative helped us evaluate how real-time monitoring, onchain intelligence and incident feedback can be combined into a dedicated methodology for the Brazilian market.

Official Statement, Banco Central do Brasil

The engagement began as a proof of value structured around real Brazilian market data. Hypernative built a BCB-specific monitoring methodology from the ground up: custom multi-layer agents tracking BRL and crypto volume anomalies across major Brazilian exchanges, cross-exchange synchronicity signals, intraday velocity patterns, and behavioral markers correlated against known fraud incident fingerprints.

The approach was calibrated continuously against Brazilian market incident patterns, progressively moving from volume anomaly detection toward earlier preparatory signal identification. The decisive validation came when Hypernative generated a preparatory alert 14 hours before* funds moved in a confirmed fraud incident, several high-confidence preparatory alerts generated during the PoV were later associated with confirmed incident activity, supporting the thesis that fraud-to-crypto laundering can produce detectable setup patterns before full dispersion. The PoV demonstrated Hypernative’s ability to build a dedicated methodology around Brazilian market dynamics, combining BRL and crypto monitoring, exchange-level behavioral signals, onchain intelligence and incident feedback.

The program is moving beyond the proof of value into a productized regulatory intelligence operation. Hypernative will provide continuous monitoring across the BRL/crypto market pairs on the exchanges most relevant to Brazilian fraud activity, alongside ongoing methodology maintenance, custom agent refinement, onchain investigation support tied to specific incidents, reporting cadence and governance structure, and dedicated expert support hours for new investigation fronts as they emerge. The engagement is structured as an operated intelligence program rather than a self-service tool, with Hypernative sustaining the capability over time.

Central banks operate in environments where timing, explainability and trust matter. What we developed with Banco Central do Brasil shows how real-time monitoring, onchain intelligence and incident feedback can create a new layer of regulatory intelligence for crypto-related financial crime. This is exactly the type of high-impact, institution-grade use case Hypernative was built to support.
